Hello, I'm Evelyn from Malaysia. Turning 20 on the 9th of September 2013.

Follow me on this journey of a petite girl from the island of North Borneo as she embarks on life and transitions from a teen to a young adult.

It's strange isn't it? How a click could lead you onto a piece of life. Reading about a stranger, word after word, page after page. Are you up for it?

How's Pre-U Coming Along?
post Monday, 6 February 2012 speech bubble 0 comment(s)

Pre-U is pretty much the same as A-levels accept that it's government-based and the format and syllabus hasn’t changed for years unlike A-levels. Hence, the on-the-edge-of-suicide studies that you must completely master in only 3 semesters.
I’m in my second month of my second semester now since I came in in May 2011. I was utterly beatened like an egg on level 10 last semester. Hey what can I say? I‘m a Catholic girl fresh out from an all-girls missionary high school. Come to think of it, I’ve been in an all girls missionary school since I was 7 til 17. HAH! A whole 10 years of growing up around Oestrogen. How about that!

But jokes aside, going in a mixed school, let alone a mixed and pro-Muslim school for the first time was definitely a bit of shock but it opened my eyes as well as broadened my views. I found a similar advice we were given during talks from guest speakers that, a student has to be adaptable. Which is very true or else how can we succeed, yes? Heck, I’ve had Muslim friends before in Primary and Secondary! It’s just that I’m not used to the pro-Muslim school system. But I’m fine now. Adjusting very well if I do say so myself!

Oh by the way, I am in the Humanity stream. My subjects consist of five;
 General Studies
 History (Malaysia, Asia, Islamic and World history)
 Arts (writing and drawing plus portfolio)
-   MUET (Malaysian University English Test. Kind of like IELTS and as such)
-
(all in Bahasa Malaysia language except MUET of course.)

It may look little but DAMN do they pack a punch! However, I’m grateful for the amount of work that’s given. I mean come on; they don’t call it Pre-University for nothing. After this year and a half we’ll be doing our Degree for chez sake! And I sense a higher level of work will be given than what we are doing now. I’m currently having a hard time Islamic History though but I’m working really hard to read and understand it.

I hope this semester I’m able to give 110% 1000% completely both academic and curricular! All the best to me!
